Job Title: PLC Programmer
Location: Onsite, Bangalore, Karnataka.

About the job

We are looking for an experienced PLC Programmer to join our India-based automation team. This role will primarily support the design, development, programming, and commissioning of PLC-based control systems for industrial automation projects, with a strong focus on providing ongoing technical support to our manufacturing facility in the United States.

You will work closely with the US engineering and operations teams, participate in virtual meetings during overlapping hours, and ensure seamless integration and troubleshooting of automation systems across time zones. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled PLC professional who thrives in a global environment and wants to play a key role in supporting critical production operations in the US from India.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and program PLC logic for industrial automation systems.
  • Design electrical control panels, including layout, component selection, and wiring diagrams, ensuring compliance with standards and project specifications.
  • Perform testing, simulation, debugging, and commissioning of PLC programs (both remotely and occasionally on-site if required).
  • Provide remote technical support, troubleshooting, and emergency on-call assistance to the US manufacturing facility (primarily during US Eastern/Time Zone working hours).
  • Modify and optimize existing PLC code to improve performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Integrate PLC systems with HMI/SCADA, drives, motion control, safety systems, and industrial networks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, process engineers) in India and the US.
  • Prepare technical documentation including functional design specifications (FDS), I/O lists, logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and user manuals.
  • Participate in FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), including virtual support for US site activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (IEC 61131-3, NFPA 79, UL, etc.) and client specifications.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 8-10 years of hands-on experience in PLC programming and industrial automation.
  • Strong expertise in at least two major PLC platforms:
  • Allen-Bradley (Rockwell – Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View)
  • Experience with other platforms (Schneider, Mitsubishi, Beckhoff, Omron) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in ladder logic (LD), structured text (ST), function block diagram (FBD), and sequential function chart (SFC).
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA).
  • Familiarity with HMI/SCADA development (FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Ignition, Wonderware).
  • Experience in control panel design, wiring diagram preparation, and electrical layout design.
  • Excellent English communication skills (both written and verbal) – must be comfortable in daily calls/meetings with US teams.
  • Flexible to work overlapping hours with US time zones (e.g., evening/night shifts in India as needed).
  • Knowledge of safety PLC programming and standards (SIL, PLe) is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to the US for project commissioning (if required).
