The Weld Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily welding operations, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role supervises welders, monitors welding processes, and ensures adherence to approved welding procedures and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of welders and fabrication personnel.

  • Ensure welding activities comply with approved WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), drawings, and quality requirements.

  • Monitor productivity, work schedules, and manpower allocation to meet production timelines.

  • Inspect welding work to ensure conformance with dimensional, structural, and cosmetic requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO, or project-specific requirements).

  • Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to resolve technical issues.

  • Review weld maps, fabrication drawings, and work instructions prior to execution.

  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of welding equipment and consumables.

  • Conduct toolbox talks and enforce safety procedures in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards.

  • Train and mentor welding personnel on best practices and quality expectations.

  • Support internal and external audits as required.

  • Maintain welding documentation and production reports.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, or related field (preferred).

  • 5+ years of welding experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Strong knowledge of MIG, TIG, Stick, and other welding processes as applicable.

  • Familiarity with welding codes such as AWS D1.1, ASME, or relevant standards.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.

  • Knowledge on tolerances 

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is an advantage.

  • Experience in aerospace, heavy fabrication, pressure vessels, or structural fabrication.
